So Today is the first day of break, and it has been great so far. Practice was okay, but most especially I think my infatuation with John Fox is fading. At least I think so haha theres still the problem that I'm rooming with him during MIAC, but that's four days away!
I went with some of the girls to go shopping for food. at Walmart! I had no clue Walmart even sold food let alone had a whole grocery store inside it! I got a crapload of food all for $45! Well okay I also bought this opal glitter spray painter thing but hey looks so fun! Molly and I checked out with the Self checkout machine. Let me tell you that was an experience! We did some people watching after that, and made up a criteria for Winona: To live here, you have to fulfill one of these three things: Being old, poor, or a redneck. And we later added if you wear plaid. hahaha. The only exception were the mexican people.
I also FINALLY saw a movie on TV that I've wanted to see in forever. It's called A Cinderella Story. So good! Having me time is putting me in a good mood again :D. I'm going to Rachel's birthday party tonight. There was a theme added to it, we have to wear 90's clothes. Seriously? I don't have anything 90's because I was 10 at that time. My friend called me a party pooper but really, it won't look like we are wearing costumes, it'll just look like we have really bad taste in clothes!
One more thing: Last night I was thinking about if I really want a kid when I am older. I think I might. I don't know though. But today my friend Maureen called me and told me she got Pregnant. A little baby Boy. Wow. Shocking. But I am so happy for her! Even if she isn't.
And, we had our first successful GSA meeting! A ton of people showed up, and we voted on positions. I am now the new PR person for the GSA!!!!! :D
Well, happy Valentine's day everyone! Or as my friend Jon called it, Happy Singles Awareness day!

Hello Spring?
It has been warm for only a couple of days, but most of the snow has already melted! What's surprised me is that the grass that was brown and dead for so long, has immediately turned bright green in hours and is now alive again! Huzzah! Now I don't have to take the long way to class; I can walk in a straight line!
I also just gave a speech on Garibaldi Fish, and It went rather well. I felt comfortable up there, and the only mistake I made was to forget to preview my main points.
Break is coming up soon, which means I will have more free time, and more time to post blog posts! I am currently also making a book for the whole group (Claire, Gigi, Heidi, Ian, Steph, etc) that We will mail to eachother.
Love,
Neil

---Swim Meet
*800 free relay
We started the meet off with the 800 freestyle relay, which means that each person (4 total) has to swim a 200 free. I've never done this relay before, and wasn't too fond today after I realized I'd be swimming 4 200's. Coach told me I had to take one for the team. :/
We won, and beat the pool record, which means I get my name up on the recordboard! WAAAHHOOOOOOOO! :D:D:D:D:D:D
we did 8:00.63
*200 free
I was exhausted after the 800 free relay, and I had no idea how I was going to survive the 3 remaining swims. So on the 200 free, after the first fifty against the two River Falls kids, I decided preserving energy was important if I was going to survive. So I just glided as fast and as technically as I could until the last 25, where I beat them both really bad. I got a 2:03.09, which isn't my best, but hey I was tired!
*200 Breast
In the breast, my goal was the same, conserving energy till the end. Coach put me in this event and told me I had to "take one for the team." I raced the last 25 against 2 more River Falls kids again, and won again. Everyone was super excited. Its interesting that, when you win, more people will cheer you on in your next race. hahaha My time was 2:32.64, which I don't think is my best, but I could be wrong
*200 IM
The 200 IM was my favorite. I was up against 3 River Falls guys, one of them super cute :). They were all super nice and would shake ur hand before and after a race. *Sigh* lol *falls into a romantic wishful heap* hahaha
Someone told me I did really well in the butterfly, but in the backstroke I began to lose, and one of the guys was a full two body lengths in front of me. I swam as fast as I could for Breast, and in freestyle I put my head down and charged for all I knew! I took a breath, and I saw coach (on the last 25 near the finish) jumping up and down with his hands raised, cheering me on. It made me laugh so much to see him get so excited, and I won that one too! I got a 2:12.43, which isn't the best but oh well. There's always MIAC!
*Twinkie Challenge
The twinkie challenge is a tradition at the end of the last home meet every year. Its the freshmen cardinals against the returning cardinals. Each person has to swim a 25, get out, open a twinkie wrapper and eat it as fast as they can, jump back into the pool and touch back so the next person can dive in.
I can tell you that I have had only one twinkie before this one, and thought it was disgusting. We were losing, and I swam across, and decided to eat it by taking small quick bites. It was an ok strategy. Near the end, with divers on our team and everything (they cant swim to save their lives!) we were winning! Paul actually swallowed his twinkie whole!
Andrew the Diver had a whole person in front to swim and eat his twinkie. By the time he finished and jumped in, Steve was just starting his Twinkie. Andrew was almost to the wall when Steve jumped in, and was swimming full force, but we were victorious! Until Eric jumped in and stopped him from reaching the wall! Some other upperclassman jumped in to help stop Andrew, and in rebellion I jumped in to stop Steve, who was now at the same distance from the wall as andrew was.
I did stop Steve, but he had goggles on and was so much stronger than I that he dunked me and I couldn't see. Steve touched the wall first, but we all know that we won instead! Coach called it a tie hahaha.
Then after that we threw the coaches in!:
*Coaches in Pool
Someone tossed Brian Joyce in, and I was at the other side of the pool. I saw Lindquist make a run for it; he ran out of the pool and down the hallway, but Steve and Andrew were close on his tail. I laughed because I thought there was no way they could drag him all the way back to the pool. JJ (the diving coach) Ran and tried to enclose himself in the pool's office, but we got in and I helped dump him into the water.
Right after that, Steve and Andrew came back, Steve holding his arms, and Andrew his feet. They dumped him in, and it was beyond awesome. My two favorite parts of this meet were coach jumping up and down over my swim, and him being dragged back to the pool by Steve and Andrew. :D
*Article
Here was the article that they put up about the meet! The link is:
http://www.saintmaryssports.com/news/2009/1/31/MSWIM_0131094208.aspx?path=mswim
WINONA, Minn. — It was the last home meet of the season — and Saint Mary’s University swimming and diving coach Eric Linquist was hoping his Cardinals had saved their best for last.
They did.
The Cardinal men, fueled by the efforts of Neil Heacox (San Diego, Calif.), closed out their regular-season schedule on a winning note, collecting a 138-122 dual-meet victory over UW-River Falls Saturday at the Jul Gernes Pool.
Despite stellar showings from several individuals, the SMU women weren’t as fortunate, as they dropped their regular-season finale, 130-111.
“This was a great finish to our regular season,” said Lindquist, whose team is now off until the MIAC Championships on Feb. 19-21. “We got so many great swims — it was exactly what I was hoping for in a season finale.”
Heacox certainly saved his best for last, as the SMU freshman picked up three individual first-place finishes, while also swimming a leg on the Cardinals’ 800 freestyle relay, which set a Jul Gernes Pool record with a winning time of 8:00.63.
Along with Heacox’s three first-place efforts — a 2:03.09 showing in the 200 freestyle, a 2:32.64 effort in the 200 breaststroke and a 2:12.43 performance in the 200 IM — SMU also got a pair of firsts from Tim Tysk (St. Paul, Minn.) in the 50 freestyle (23.48) and the 100 freestyle (51.19), while John Fox (Winona, Minn. / 100 breaststroke, 1:02.53), Matt Ramey (Centennial, Colo. / 500 freestyle, 5:18.45) and Eric Hills (Lake Elmo, Minn. / 100 butterfly, 1:00.51) all recorded first-place finishes.
Jennifer Salzman (Hilo, Hawaii), led the charge for the SMU women, winning both the 100 freestyle (58.93) and the 500 freestyle (5:54.64), with Rachel Steinkamp (Lakeville, Minn. / one-meter diving, 180.35), Linda Tierney (Cloquet, Minn. / 100 butterfly, 1:09.95) and Liz Flynn (Mahtomedi, Minn. / three-meter diving, 200.55) also chipping in first-place efforts.
“This was a great final tune-up (for the MIAC championships),” said Lindquist. “We had a lot of very good swims, but I think we have a lot of even better swims in us.”
---Fireside
Fireside was an amazing musical done by the fraternity at our school (the girls' one) Sigma Alpha Iota. They had people sing songs of their own, or famous ones. They were all creative and amazing! And a lot of my friends were in it too! It was so much fun to see this kind of talent. Since I am singing a lot now, I am more able to appreciate the music that people create. Live music is so much more beautiful that recorded music. I also discovered another part of this school that I didn't know existed! It's a whole nother theatre that sits in the third floor of St. Mary's! I love this school because of all the different types of architecture that have accumulated over the years! Its so cool to see and try and guess what ages they were created in.
We also got pie with our show! It was French Silk (chocolate) and was sooooo good. I had three pieces!
---Danielle's Birthday
It was Danielle's birthday that night too, and she loves to cook, so she made her own birthday cake, but in reality it was apple pie. It was so good. She is such a great cook, and such a cool friend. I really want to get to know her more, and spend more time with her.
---GSA
The GSA is going okay. Its difficult to contact people, since two out of the four leaders (I am one of them. Isn't it deliciously like the four creators of Hogwarts?) don't have cell phones. But we have the first meeting tomorrow at noonish. I made posters, but we are not posting them around the school yet out of safety and confidentiality reasons. Tomorrows another day!
Love,
Neil

50th Post!
Whew! I can't believe I've posted in this blog fifty times! It doesn't really seem possible. at all haha
So I am now pretty sure that I have a steady group of friends. I've been hanging out with Emyli, Michael, and Cory. I just met Emyli's friend Danielle and we have a lot of things in common. She knows how to play Euchre, AND she takes methotrexate every saturday!!! Freaky, huh?
I have a swim meet this saturday; the last one before MIAC! I had a meeting with Coach (everyone has to have one with him), and all is well. I am just so dang busy all the time! Sleep and food are all I think about haha.
Emily Palid from home, unfortunately hurt her back, and is now wearing a back brace for 6-8 weeks. I feel so bad for her. She really does have the worst luck ever. Now she cant do any exercise whatsoever, and menial tasks like picking up a pencil off the floor are hard for her. She's stir crazy, but I try and help by calling her anytime I can.
I am also going to set up a meeting to inquire more about being an RA next year. Whew. I have a lot of questions, so I hope it will go well. We also finished out dance for showcase in May! Hallelujah! No more revision to remember!

SO:
It is completely true that exercise gives you endorphins. I would know because my average now is 4 hours of swimming, and 4 hours of dance EVERY DAY! I must say I have been sleeping like a log, and it hurts sometimes, but I am meeting new people all the time and its somehow put me in such a good mood.
Over the weekend I did Cross Country Skiing, and it was beyond amazing! You have to run but not since you are wearing skis, but you also have the poles to push yourself. A funny part was this wicked double humped downslope, that curved to the right. I was scared I would fall like everyone else was (all of us were pretty much novice at this), but I made it down the first hump, and over and down the next one! I was so happy, that I swerved on accident and plowed into a wall of snow! I tried to get up but got all tangled in my skis and poles, and took a minute to get up. Right when I did, Mocha came swerving around the bend, saw me, and had to stop by also falling into the snow. Definitely a lot of fun!
I gave my first speech in class today and I told myself I wasnt going to be nervous, but I was. Everyone told me I did a good job though, and I need to practice not saying uh or um, and remembering my outline more!
See Ya!

Checkup
Art
First of all, you should go to the post before this! I got more artwork up!
Greg
Next, the diver dude named Paul (if you remeber I had to share a bed with him during a swim meet a while ago) dropped out of the play because he has an ulcer. Rumors had been going around that his mom wouldn't let him play such a controversial role (the character is gay and talks about having a hard-on while being called on by a teacher). But Paul also dropped out of diving, so I think the second rumor is bunk.
Judy (the main Director) offered to me through email the part of Greg. I said yes, and even though I haven't heard back from her, I am the only one she offered it to so I think I will get it! It has a lot more lines. This means that I will have no life. School, Swimming, Theatre, and Ballroom Dancing are all that I am anymore hahaha. Sleeping and Socializing pop up whenever possible. I have permanent purple marks underneath my eyes and they will not go away even if I have a nice, restful 9 hour sleep. Plus, my room has now become the "hang out" room, so there are always people to hang out with. I rather like that so I don't complain, I just kick them out sometimes when I have to sleep. Plus, Pat Luke is determined to hang out with me as much as possible, and I just don't have time!
Postcards
I got two postcards from Mom the other day. Both were from Italy, and the first one was of a cat on a balcony that had a view of some GORGEOUS architectural stairs. The second was a picture of David's Butt. I kid you not. I was like, what the hell? It did make me laugh though, and laughing is what keeps me sane. :D I have them on display on my bookshelf.
Bryan/Mikey
This next topic I don't want to dwell on too much but it just made me SO angry. And now I'm just so sad that Mikey is such a crappy friend. Not even a friend actually. Basically Mikey is a senior and I've hung out with him once or twice because we are both so busy all the time. I've mentioned him before.
I hit him up last night, and said "hey I'm not busy wednesday afternoon, do you want to hang out?" He said that he was seeing someone. I was confused because did he mean he was seeing someone on Wednesday? Or did he mean that he was dating someone and so he didn't want to try to date me? Because I didn't even see him as a potential in the first place.
I asked and he said that he was dating someone and so he couldn't talk to me. I then thought what the hell? He's not supposed to talk to me specifically because its me or because I could be a potential for him? he told me that it was because I was a potential, but the next question he answered probably made him lie about that question.
"is it Bryan Moore?"
"Yes! How'd you know?"
aww crap. So I guess Mikey isn't really a friend if he's ignoring the "Bros before Hoes" thing. He said he would talk to me again if the Bryan thing doesn't work out, but I thought to myself why the hell would I WANT TO if I'm just a backup plan friend? Really that is so crappy. And the fact that Bryan told him we couldn't hang out any more really says a lot. Really it does. He is a drama queen and I want to know why he isn't dead already. I mean, really, God should just finish him off. Please?
Swim Meet
The swim meet went pretty well. I got a 2:00.8 on my 200 Free! but I still got a 1:09 on my breaststroke. I don't know why I am still stuck In junior year on my breaststroke. I talked to Coach about it and he knows I am really frustrated. He said that maybe we could find some time on Wed, or this weekend to work on my breaststroke some.
Thats pretty much it, I have homework to do!
I guess in the effect that Friendship is the next best alternative...
